The new church facility will be a two-story structure located on the property we own next to the PHA building. It will consist of two levels of 6,000 square feet. The main level will be our worship and fellowship center, and the lower level will house rooms for Christian education, study, small groups. The lower level will also have a nursery, offices, kitchen, food pantry, and emergency services support.

SEPTEMBER 2022 UPDATEThe committee will create a bid package once the final drawings are complete and approved. The committee will submit that bid package to potential contractors in late November, assuming no delays. We should have a fixed project amount in January and will create a capital campaign.
The committee is committed to design and build a facility that is as energy-efficient and environmentally friendly as possible. Solar panels, LED lighting, water-saving fixtures, etc. One of our committee members is LEED certified. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is an internationally recognized green building certification system, providing third-party verification that a building or community was designed and built using strategies aimed at improving performance across all the metrics that matter most: energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts.
Because construction costs have skyrocketed in 2021, we estimate the new facility will require $2.7 million to be raised.
The architectural review board and PHA will require that a significant amount of the funds needed to complete the project be secured before construction begins.
The original plot of land for the church was purchased in 2005. As plans were underway for the design and construction of the new facility, the market and real estate collapse of 2008 put everything on hold, as Palmas del Mar took a major hit. The Palmas Athletic Club went into receivership, and real estate prices plunged. The new church project was put on indefinite hold. In 2015, plans were created for the new church facility, and a subcontractor was chosen for construction in 2016. Hurricane Maria hit the island in 2017, and the construction project was again put on hold.
In September 2020, a new building committee was formed to construct the facility. The committee worked with Horacio Diaz to redesign the previous drawings to meet the long-term needs of PCC and the surrounding community. A new design was created for a 12,000-square-foot facility. The COVID pandemic slowed the process of getting drawings completed and approvals granted. As the building was laid out on the church property, it was apparent that there was insufficient parking. The previous plans called for using parking spaces at PHA and in the old employee's lot just to the south of the PCC parcel. However, the building committee and PCC board did not believe that was a long-term solution. The building committee reached out to Palmas del Mar properties to inquire about getting additional land adjacent to our current parcel. Mr. Charles Hurwitz of PDMPI graciously donated the needed land, doubling the size of our parcel. We have now been in final drawings, surveys, and approvals from the architectural review board to gain final approval for the groundbreaking.

PCC has signed a long-term lease at the Yacht Club. Our new location will provide dedicated space for Worship, Fellowship, Christian Education (Youth-Adult), Sunday School, Nursery, Small Groups, and offices.
